Operations Manager for Macalister Fire District which spans from the Gippsland coast, through to the remote reaches of the Gippsland high country. Within the district Operations team there are four workcentres that I'm responsible for based at Heyfield, Briagolong, Dargo and Yarram as well as the 16 person state rappel team, Snowy Range airbase and Surveyors Creek fire camp. The Operations team peaks at approximately 80 personnel (fulltime, fixed term and seasonal)

Management of departmental procurement processes associated with recovery from previous flood & storm events.

Responsible for all aspects of emergency management, coordination and preparedness across Gippsland Region.

High level strategic role leading transition of rural and urban fire personnel under a unified command structure.

Providing strategic direction on matters of national importance to the rural fire fighting industry across New Zealand. First elected to board in 2007 and re-elected every two years until resignation in 2019.

High level strategic role with operational accountability for service delivery across Southland region, managing up to 400 personnel in response roles. Managed the dissolution of the rural fire authority during transition to Fire and Emergency New Zealand

Responsible for the operational delivery of what was the largest rural fire district in New Zealand covering 12.5% of the country, managing significant asset portfolio which included people and or equipment located across 32 locations and multiple parner agencies.

Primarily involved with delivery of rural fire component of recruit, qualified fire fighter and senior fire fighter on a part time basis. Included organising and delivering formal training programs with individual Brigades (both career & volunteer).

Primary focus being the delivery of rural fire officer legislation programs, as well as operational leadership development across rural fire authorities in the South Island.

Delivery of a range of training and assessment against relevant New Zealand Qualifications Authority standards, including lead trainer for lower South Island Crew Leader courses and in-district courses. Trainer / assessor for specialist roles including Air Attack Supervisor, Rural Fire Officer, Heavy Machinery Operations, Incident Management
