Business Pilot is the Business Management System for installation businesses. Business Pilot allows installers to sufficiently manage every part of their business from lead generation through sales, operations, finance and after care.My role in Business Pilot came from work I had been carrying out with a Window and Door installation company. They had been using a very old industry specific system. My work was to identify issues in their digital marketing. Once that had been done (and Urban Media had doubled their sales enquiries), attention turned to how they managed the increased level of enquiries. This is where their old system was letting them down. I encouraged the owners to create the 'dream system' that didn't look at what was available, but what could be possible. Business Pilot was the result.It wasn't long before we saw just how beneficial the system was for its users. Seeing how our system was able to enable installers to literally transform their own businesses just drove us further.My role is to set the vision and strategy for the business. I lead the team to continually improve the system by focusing on being user led (customer centricity). I drive a culture of continual improvement in ideas, development, support and customer focus. This is based on allowing our users and the team to 'dream' of what could be possible, and then ensuring we deliver it. At the same time, I am responsible for the financial performance of the business.

In 1997 I founded Urban Media as a 'one man band' or as they would call it today, a 'solopreneur'. There was no social media and search engine optimisation wasn't carried out on Google, because it didn't exist!I have learnt so much in my journey from sole trader to managing director of an amazing team. Now (2021) I am mentoring the next generation of leaders to continue the work I began so long ago, so that by the time Urban Media reaches its quarter century, it becomes an ongoing part of my own legacy.I have had so many successes and failures in Urban Media and I owe so much to this business. I was honoured to be invited to take part in The Social Movement. It gives me the opportunity to use my 'alternative thinking' to find solutions to some of the world's biggest issues. I am participating in Season 2 of the TV show.I can't begin to tell you how exciting it is for me to be in a team of people that believe nothing is impossible and are given just 4 days to build an organisation that will have a massive impact for so many people. Out of the 10 global issues, I have selected Racism, Poverty and the Education system as my preferred issues to tackle.RacismI care deeply about any discrimination (Age, Gender, Race, Sexuality, Wealth etc.). However, I also see well meaning people creating more divide than unity because its the only way they know. I would love to be part of creating ‘actual’ change here, to create a world where we all benefitted from each other’s differences (viewpoints & experiences), without the need to discriminate because of them.PovertyWhen I started my first business, I was a young dad (24). I had two children and zero income. We lived on a charity bread run from the local bakery so it was often beans on toast or just toast. However, I didn’t see myself as poor. I certainly wouldn’t call that level ‘poverty’, I think ending poverty is not only about providing opportunity.Education SystemI believe a lot of issues stem from this one. I saw with my own children (3 in the end!) Just how much influence they got from school vs parents! Yet, schools don’t teach mindset, money, values and many other key skills for life. When I was at school, we were taught that you had to get a job (no dreamers). When my kids were at school, they were taught they could be anything they wanted, but not told about the cost and how they would need to achieve their dreams. I believe both approaches were wrong and we should be teaching our next generations that anything is possible. Then also teaching them what they will need to make it possible.

Having worked with Digiatrics since the concept of the system via Urban Media, I joined the team on a permanent basis to further build on the digital strategy that we have created to date.Digiatrics, through the W:ISH system is changing how health and wellness is managed forever. By putting you in control of your own health, this is a step change in how healthcare has been provided 'for you' previously. The system also creates the hub for other digital technologies.My role as Digital Director is to provide leadership around the strategy, and roll out, of new digital technologies, AI and VR. I form the link between the clinical and commercial roles and the development team. This also involves working with various requirements from Healthcare organisations such as the NHS, pharma companies and third sector / private sector health / wellness organisations. Key to the success in my role is the ability to take a multitude of disparate priorities and requirements and turn those into a clear development plan creating efficient work streams, whilst keeping all stakeholders satisfied.

Here it is...As the Founder and Managing Director of UK Trucking Ltd, I built one of the UK's leading sources of road haulage training and information. In fact, during 2002 and 2003 the UK Trucking Ltd website received up to 5 million hits per month. Ultimately, this business was a huge 'marketing success' and at the same time became a huge 'business failure'.However, it was this business that taught me that sadly, most marketers do not understand business to the level they need to.
