What I see as the best part of my job is operating as the ‘detective’ within corporate affairs. I make sure we find the best stories in our company and bring them to the attention of several audiences, in a genuine and authentic way. Generally speaking: I like to know what’s going on. Offering clear insights into business and societal developments and giving leadership strategic yet concrete options for acting on them makes my day. Others have told me that I ask the right questions, that I quickly get to the heart of complex issues and that I have a strong sense of what is going on in the outside world. I see it as my job to not only understand my own company to its core, but also to bring that outside world in. To share what’s going on beyond our own backyard. At the same I enjoy keeping things light by adding humor when appropriate. During my years in Communications and Public Affairs I have focused on creating best in class communication strategies (proactive and defensive - via earned, owned and paid media), integrating storytelling in (business) narratives, building strong relationships with the outside world - with media, political stakeholders and topical experts alike and building and coaching teams.A few of the projects I’m proud of: - Leading Ahold Delhaize’s Corporate Communications during impactful societal circumstances such as COVID-19 and hyperinflation - Implemented the external channel strategy (owned, earned and paid) at Ahold Delhaize included launching two new external communication channels and starting with paid SoMe campaigns to increase diversity in audiences - Working with Investor Relations to broaden financial communications- Proactively establishing a broad stakeholder field & creating strong business relationships with political and media stakeholders, for all companies I worked for- Leading External Communications & Public Affairs at former SNS REAAL, during financial challenges after the nationalization and the sale to a Chinese company - including cultural integration - Creating media & political attention for crises in the construction sector, during my work for the Dutch union FNV Bouw
