Bluegrass Country Club, established in 1951 in Hendersonville, Tennessee, began as the Hendersonville Country Club. Founded by local residents to serve as a social and recreational hub, it initially featured a modest clubhouse, a small golf course, and basic amenities. In July 1954, the course opened for play with a Father-Son tournament.During the years 1965-1967, Bluegrass Country Club hosted the Music City Pro-Celebrity Golf Tournament. Professional golfers Sam Snead, Byron Nelson and Tommy Bolt were joined by entertainers Phil Harris, Archie Campbell, Jimmy Newman, Ray Price, and Charlie Walker. Country Music Hall of Fame artist and National Medal of Arts recipient Minnie Pearl, could be spotted riding around town promoting the tournament.In the early 1970s, the Club relocated to its current site along the scenic Old Hickory Lake and was renamed Bluegrass Country Club. This move included the creation of a new 18-hole championship golf course designed by Robert Bruce Harris. Over the years, the Club expanded its facilities, adding a clubhouse, tennis courts, a swimming pool, and dining options, enhancing the Member experience and solidifying its reputation as a premier recreational destination.Today, Bluegrass Country Club remains a private institution offering a wide range of recreational and social opportunities. Continuously updating its facilities to meet modern standards, it has been enjoyed by professional golfers like PGA Champion John Daly, Golf Hall of Fame Member Betsy Rawls and U.S. Amateur Champion, Steven Fox. The Club has also welcomed numerous celebrity Members, including Reba McEntire, Meryl Haggard, Roy Orbison, Conway Twitty, and Kentucky Fried Chicken’s Colonel Sanders, it continues to remain well-regarded for its beautiful setting, well-maintained facilities, and excellent services.
