About Ely Kahn
I'm an independent digital and increasingly multimedia designer and developer. My experience professionally began with Graphic Design and Interactive Installations, quickly moved to primarily Web(UI+UX) design and front-end development with an affinity for solving problems that clients didn’t know that they had using skills I didn’t know that I could do. After a decade of freelance web design and working alone, hustling like a madman to get by in San Francisco, I decided to take a step back, slow down and then proceed with a degree of intention and mindfulness that the pace of SF didn’t allow. Although I love almost everything about California, I am fortunate to have both my parents alive, happily married, healthy and my best friends so I am taking a brief sabbatical nearby in downtown Little Rock. I have an insatiable appetite for Creation, curiosity that dwarfs my sizable knowledge base and a career of proof that I can make or do anything that I put my mind to. I am currently exploring and expanding my skill set in the realms of Design Systems, Static Site Generation, Microcontroller I/O, Internet of Things and Physical Computing and doing equal parts thinking and writing about Ethics/Responsibility in Design and Tech as well as Teaching the general public more about the power that they can have to shape the future using tools that ought not to be the exclusive purview of technicians, advertisers and saboteurs of a once-great society.At present I am likely to be found building iterations of prototypes, learning how to write better JavaScript, designing a brand for a collaborative project or building novel HID for physical computing using the Raspberry Pi, Arduino and coding demonstrations/experiments of all sorts. But that is just my idea of a good time. I am seeking new opportunities professionally in/around the above-mentioned fields, am open to contract and full-time positions and local/remote/relocation are all perfectly viable.
