The Maarifa Foundation is a not for profit organisation focused on Education for Conservation. The Maarifa Foundation supports and empowers students in Maasai communities in Kenya that live in key wildlife areas, as well as students here in Australia. Students from both countries can share knowledge and experience, learn about the environment and be empowered to make positive changes for the future.

PASS stands for peer assisted study sessions, it is an international, highly regarded system to help with student retention and grades in tertiary education. This position requires my interpersonal, communication, organisational, teamwork and leadership skills, as well as relevant content knowledge. Additionally, the position requires creative thinking to design activities and problem solving and adaptability when working with students within sessions. Furthermore, I utilise critical thinking and self-reflection to constantly improve my sessions and student engagment. Since becoming a Senior PASS Leader at the end of 2019, my position also includes providing support and constructive feedback to other PASS Leaders, as well as working more closely with the PASS coordinator on extra PASS projects. With the switch to online study in 2020, I have also gained skills in working effectively in an online environment. I have successfully adapted a group focused activity such as PASS to work effectively and engage students online as well.
