About Elyssa Schmid
Over the course of my very non-linear career, it's been deeply satisfying (& fun!) to work with so many different innovators and organizations, including musicians, film documentarians, cultural and design collectives, not-for-profit mavericks, magazine publishers, ship-builders, fintechs and hundreds more. And I still feel like a beginner, because the opportunities are unending. It's hard to believe it's been 30 years (and counting), but it feels very natural to share everything I've learned so far with the next generation of brand builders, so I was thrilled to be invited to teach in the School of Design at George Brown College four years ago, and over the last two, in the venerated IDEA School of Design at Capilano University in Vancouver.In my teaching practice with graphic design students, my ultimate goal is to spark in them design's inherent optimism to positively affect our world using the principles of design as their tools. I'm grateful to teach and continue be a contributing member of my design community—taking part in student award initiatives and mentorship programs.
