Having been actively working in the Recruitment Advertising Industry for over 20 years, I have become aware of the lack of vertical / industry-specific online job boards in South Africa. With the Medical Industry being so critical, I saw a need for a job platform dedicated to South African medical professionals and so created SA Medical Jobs (www.samedicaljobs.co.za). By providing medical-only jobs portal for South Africans, our aim is to make it easier for qualified job seekers and employers in the medical industry to connect in order to provide much needed healthcare services.

My role encompassed liaising with clients, advising according to recruitment advertising needs, developing a marketing plan, designing, copywriting and putting that plan into action. I connected daily with various media houses and have built valuable working relationships in the industry.The complete advertising process:• Copywriting for recruitment ads, selling the job as well as the employer brand• Design / concept building around the clients’ corporate identity to make the advert stand out• I utilized my connections with media to supply clients with the best advertising statistics & quotations• I booked the ads with the selected media and supply artwork to specification• Online advert loading• I made it a point to always follow up with my clients, once the advert has ran its course.Using Social Media marketing for recruitment advertising has proven to be extremely successful. It was a large part of my role, since I saw the gap in the market to utilize social media to reach an even greater pool of good quality candidates. This is now a full service offering at Strategy Recruitment Marketing. I utilize social media platforms Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and Google+, using relevant hashtags and other tools to connect with online communities and groups to advertise each vacancy. On Instagram, I created videos filmed by hand or made in Adobe Flash, Photoshop, Fireworks and Encoder. On Facebook I utilized targeted advertising, researching the type of person that would be a suitable candidate for that role. With weekly media deadlines and new business pitches, this position called for outstanding time-management, prioritising skills and of course, one needed to be able to work under an enormous amount of pressure. In addition, I was in charge of maintaining and updating company websites and other marketing tasks such as creating brochures, flyers, pull up banners, online banners, mailers and social media pages.

I sourced for new business and candidates to hit company targets. Part of the role was to shortlist CVs and interview candidates to place in the appropriate roles, liaising with both clients and candidates on a daily basis.

I co-ordinated and processed recruitment advertising for public sector clients, including NHS (National Health Service) Trusts and local Councils. It was a high-pressure position, which called for exceptional interpersonal, customer-care and time-management skills.
