em irvin (they/them) is a performer who asks ceramic questions to consider possibilities for clay and ceramic relationalities. This practice drives their work as a Ph.D. student in Performance Studies at the University of California Davis. irvin holds a BS in health sciences and a BFA from the Ohio State University, and an MFA from the University of Colorado Boulder. They have exhibited their work and participated in residency programs internationally, as an emerging artist at SculptureX, artist-in-residence at C.R.E.T.A. in Rome, Italy, and exhibiting work in the Biennale of Contemporary Keramics in Greece and at the Czong Institute for Contemporary Art (CICA) Museum in South Korea. Their work has also appeared in publications such as the International Journal of Architectural Engineering & Urban Planning, the Islamic Conference on Islamic Architecture and Heritage, which received an award for best presentation in 2020, Ceramics Now, Rejoinder, Studio Potter, and Aesthetica Magazine.
