My time at Autobond has been split between developing new machinery at the cutting edge of high quality print finishing technology and ensuring the compliance of all machines to the Machinery Directive and other relevant legislation and best practice guidance. I have continued to develop my skills with Autodesk software and technical authoring whilst learning about a very different branch of industry.

I serve on the board of trustees helping to direct the priorities and aims of the centre. I served as chair of the board for a year including overseeing our incorporation and transition to a board of directors. I am delighted to be associated with this amazing charity which aims to "Enrich Lives with Horses" and provides opportunities for disabled people of all ages and abilities over a wide area.

During my time at MRX I was project engineer for developing and installing multiple multi-million pound rail vehicle inspection systems. My work involved being the main technical contact with the customers and technical oversight of all stages of the project from contract to servicing. Liaising between multiple teams and disciplines, including some in Australia, required chairing large meetings, a lot of inter-personal skills and development of many processes for improving communication between others. My work also included development and implementation of specifications, test documentation and training materials, in addition to having a detailed working knowledge of the function and requirements of the system and the work of all the engineering disciplines involved. I learnt to use Autodesk Inventor and many parts of the Oracle E-business suite during my time at MRX.

I joined DeltaRail in January 2007 on the Graduate Development Programme. I worked with different project groups on a range of projects including vehicle modifications and re-engineering and product design development. I am experienced in the use of SolidEdge for 3D CAD and Ansys Finite Element Analysis.I was project engineer and mechanical lead for the development of the state-of-the-art track geometry measurement product, TracklineTwo. I co-ordinated the work of the multi-discipline team to develop bogie mounted instrumentation pods which enable high accuracy measurement of track geometry parameters. The instrumentation pods combine precision inertial measurement equipment with a patented optical system and are supported by active temperature and moisture control. I utilised the latest technology to achieve a robust, compact and low maintenance design suitable for installation on a wide range of bogies and capable of enduring the extreme shock and vibration environment.My role as Project Engineer has included many aspects of project management including defining and managing the work of other team members, monitoring and reporting financial data, planning work to meet timescales and resource availability, quality and continuous improvement management.

After University, I worked for the Health Protection Agency's Chemical Hazards and Poisons Division, developing databases to improve the efficiency of their work and working on various projects for the European Union in an administrative role.

Prior to University, I participated in the Year in Industry scheme working for British Energy's Engineering Division. I was awarded a sponsorship and completed three summer placements in different parts of the company. This included working in a fluid dynamics team, writing additional code for the reactor condition monitoring software at Heysham B nuclear power station and working on plant renewal projects at Dungeness B nuclear power station.
