Who would be better suited to a career in biological research than a BA in biology? A BA in biology with the skills, experiences, and extracurriculars that I have. Most importantly, one with my passion and drive to provide a better quality of life to others and the motivation to pursue medical research. This passion gives me the determination to excel in any job or internship that gets me closer to my dream of becoming a medical practitioner.I have a strong history in research and analysis; a summer course at the University of Chicago on infectious diseases lent me skills such as plating bacteria cultures, PCR, and staining. My university courses in biology and chemistry have also taught me basic laboratory etiquette and skills such as using burners, pipettes, and analytical skills involving experimental design. Most recently, I conducted a simple research experiment on the reaction of sow bugs to different environmental conditions - by employing the analytical skills learned through experience, I was able to work from hypothesis to conclusions about my experiment. Additionally, my in depth experience in teaching and education has offered me even greater analytical and problem solving skills. From teaching in summer camps to founding my own online learning company 'Nativlearning', I have learned how to work through problems step by step: from identifying issues to planning out solutions to executing those solutions. However, the most important lesson I learned from teaching was about myself: I feel a sense of fulfillment in helping those around me and giving back to a society that has given me so much.
