I lead multiple software engineering and data science teams with the following responsibilities:* Resource Optimization for Display, Video, and App Ads: Google receives a massive number of ad requests every second, requiring millions of machines to process these requests. We developed a large-scale optimization platform that automatically optimized a series of serving knobs such that computational resources can be best spent processing only relevant ad queries.* Optimization Features and Technologies in Display and Video 360 (DBM): My team utilizes a variety of Machine Learning, Optimization, Statistical Modeling, and large-scale data processing techniques to optimize advertiser's bids in real time to power a suite of auto-bidding products in DV360, delivering unparalleled return-on-investment to tens of thousands of advertisers worldwide. I lead the team to develop and successfully deploy new technologies in all aspects of an ad serving system (e.g., ad retrieval, targeting optimization, bidding optimization, auction and competition modeling, and user behavior modeling) transforming the platform to an industry-leading performance DSP.

-- Designer of Apple Watch’s heart rate monitor algorithm, including motion rejection and pulse rate extraction components.-- Full implementation of the algorithm in Matlab and C/C++ for both Mac OS and iOStargets.-- Consultation with hardware team on the choices of wavelength, number and distancesof LED-­Photodiode pairs, etc. through design and analysis of targeted user studies.-- Design of intermediate signal quality metrics for fast assessment of various hardwarechoices (predictive of performance under motion).-- Sole/main innovator on key patents regarding PPG-­based heart rate monitoring duringexercise, and gesture recognition in wrist-worn wearable devices using sensor fusion.

Developed and contributed cutting-edge algorithms (and software) for the HEVC video compression standard. HEVC was jointly developed by ISO/IEC Moving Picture Experts Group(MPEG) and ITU-T Video Coding Experts Group (VCEG).
