Emal Nessary has served as operations administrator for the Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) for more than a decade. In charge of the overall functioning of both WGAW’s Los Angeles headquarters and Writers Guild Theater, he handles such areas as financial management, tenant relations, and lease agreements, as well as marketing campaigns for theater rentals. He oversees the headquarters’ security, parking, and custodial staff and maintains efficient and safe operation of all mechanical and electrical apparatus. At the Writers Guild Theater, Emal Nessary administers the budget and sets event and screening schedules. He previously represented the theater in negotiations that secured a collective bargaining agreement with the stage technicians union IATSE Local 33.Prior to joining WGAW, Emal Nessary worked as a theater manager for The Bridge: Cinema de Lux, from the opening of the three-story multiplex in 2001 until 2005. He directed 150 staff members and managed daily activities ranging from ticketing system monitoring to special events coordination. Throughout his time with The Bridge, Mr. Nessary regularly conducted relations with prominent guests and film industry executives.
