I've been working as an entrepreneur even if I never joined a startup. How come? During the past years, I built a state of art accounting solution in the travel industry from the ground up, pushing both the technical and business domain boundaries. And I experienced all kinds of adventures this type of works bring: from building your first prototype, passing by your first client signature, until working on our product grow and maturity. Since then I've joined Skyscanner for taking our Booking strategy to the next level, by defining a delighting shopping/checkout experience truly adapted to the latest web/mobile standards. For me, every day is an opportunity to do better and different: by identifying a better technical design; by identifying a process to improve; or by finding a new business solution for our customers. As a Director of Engineering, these are the values I try to pass to my teams. Technology and software engineering are a part of my DNA. I enjoy a lot working on the architecture and design of a new component, or pragmatically refactoring legacy code into a better version. I believe no process and no KPI can replace a well-designed software made with professionalism. This is why I ensure all impediments and bureaucracy are outside my team's critical path, so that they can do their best every day.
