About Eartha May Arandia, Otr/L

My life-long passion to help others brought me to Occupational Therapy, which has a special role in supporting people with their goals to participate in their daily activities. I received my Masters in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) from San Jose State University in December 2021, registered with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) in April 2022, and licensed with California Board of Occupational Therapy (CBOT) in May 2022.My first fieldwork placement was at an inpatient psychiatric ward at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, where I led group therapy sessions for patients experiencing symptoms of schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, and depression. My second placement was at a hand therapy clinic at Hands-On Care in San Jose under the direct supervision of a Certified Hand Therapist. I evaluated and treated people with upper extremity issues ranging from fractures, sprains, contractures, neuropathies, and repetitive stress injuries.---"The place that occupational treatment can and will take in the newer order of things is largely dependent on the contributions that the trained worker is prepared to make." - Eleanor Clarke Slagle in 'Address to Graduates', 1930
