I am the engineering lead for the Organize pillar - we code things like account settings, users and permissions, and content management within the Wistia app. I manage three small workstreams of fantastic ruby and react engineers.

The Wanderlust Group is the team behind Dockwa and Marinas.com. We build marketplaces and technology platforms that connect adventurers to destinations and help those destinations grow. Our apps and software is used by more than 250,000 people, across 15,000 destinations in more than 30 countries. Our primary tech stack consists of ruby/rails and react. We are tackling a lot of fun problems - like usage scaling and product adoption. From 2021 to 2022, as the most senior member of engineering, I grew the team from 4 engineers to 22, built out numerous processes and communication channels to support the team along the way, and most importantly kept retention and culture strong. I also led the Marina Operations side of the business in building a collection of tools on web and mobile.

I worked as an individual contributor at a seed-funded start-up working to build Email 2.0.I worked primarily on the Rails project, using GraphQL, Relay, React, and React Native. We followed a regimented test-driven code process following many best practices like single responsibility, small idempotent sidekiq workers, and pushing business logic to models or pure ruby classes.

As the lead developer of the main full-stack web application, I was responsible for the billing system, account and user settings, and other core features. I focused on building software with the best user experience possible and writing code to be maintainable and flexible into the future. I worked as a full stack software developer at an agile dev shop with offices in NYC and Boston. We consulted a variety of clients, helping founders build high quality solutions for their business needs. Highlights include:- built several greenfield MVPs using lean and iterative strategies helping them decide what to build to get the most value to customers given time and money constraints- coded two payment systems from scratch using object oriented design patterns, careful error handling, thoughtful unit and end-to-end tests, and payment processor APIs- followed agile and XP practices including TDD, continuous integration, and pair programming- coded several Ruby/Rails apps using full web stack - javascript, sass, haml, git, heroku, etc. - led the development of a fully responsive marketing site using a fluid grid system- created several iPhone apps in RubyMotion and native Android apps in Java

I worked in a small group of developers to maintain and program new features on a supply chain software tool in Visual Fox Pro with an Oracle database. I worked with the client facing teams to design new features, including user friendly editors to view and edit large amounts of data. I coded programs for data movement with SQL calls from VFP as well as Oracle stored procedures. I also helped regression test the application for bi-annual releases and helped maintain the older suite of applications, which involved debugging and testing a very large code base.I created a prototype of how our current application could be converted into a web application in JRuby, HTML5, JQuery, Javascript, and CSS focusing on easy data navigation and user friendly dashboards.I designed application icons and marketing materials in Photoshop.

Data visualization - Internal research and development.I worked on a machine learning algorithm to group nodes together based on tags without using a training dataset and coded this in Java. I also coded small algorithms to put values on various the nodes to represent their position in the network in Java. Then, I created dashboard prototypes to visualize the nodes in a network. Created a user interface to detect nodes of interest and view more information about them and then to untag them once investigated. The interface was coded in Java and Adobe Flex.I experimented with Flare, an ActionScript library that runs in Flash and gained exposure to writing MapReduce functions in Java to run algorithms on a cluster of computers.
