I design, implement, manage, and coordinate a variety of research and development activities centered on tackling issues of equity in mathematics and STEM instruction in schools and in the carceral setting with an emphasis on system transformation. • PI for NSF-funded STEM Opportunities in Prison Settings. STEM-OPS brings together Operation Restoration, Prison Cells to PHDs, the Prison Teaching Initiative and Princeton University and Institute for Race Research and Justice at Vanderbilt University with EDC to establish a national alliance. I lead the research and the Community Systems mapping project as well as lead the backbone which supports the partners and works to amplify the impact of the work. • Co-PI and Project Director for NSF-funded MSP: Designing for Equity by thinking in and about Mathematics. I collaborate with teachers in making sense of how teaching practice and policy are part of an inequitable system of school mathematics and what it means to disrupt this system• Collaborate with school district to understand goals, assess needs and customize EDC responses to these needs and goals; direct this work• Lead development of new proposals to extend science and mathematics work & support program.

• Direct mathematics program for PPS 6-12 schools, developing & implementing strategic plan for improving mathematics teaching.• Advocate for, develop, & implement alignment plan to CCSS-M; • Support/evaluate 6-12 mathematics teachers; • Collaborate on school-based feedback teams to support principals. Key Successes: Co-write (9-11) and supervised writing of (6-8) rigorous mathematics curricula leading to Middle Grades making AYP in 2011; wrote and was awarded USDE Title II MSP grant to develop teacher content knowledge and MKT; developed and implemented introductory 35-hour course for teachers to develop critical perspective of math education; actively involved math department in state initiatives, collaborating across districts on development of Keystone Assessments & the development of the Pennsylvania Common Core Standards.
