McAllister & Quinn works with clients to develop an effective strategy for seeking external grant funding and assists clients with composing competitive, winning proposals. The Advanced Technology Practice supports for-profit technology corporations by helping them proactively secure federal funding to develop and commercialize technology for business results.

The office of the Associate Dean for Research provides support for the College of Engineering’s research enterprise, seeking to enhance the strength and vitality of engineering research. This is accomplished by identifying new research opportunities, encouraging research collaborations, and facilitating partnerships among faculty both within and outside of U-M as well as non-University individuals and organizations.

Climate & Space is one of the largest research departments of its kind in the country, receiving annually about $16 million in sponsored research support. Members of the department have built and flown more than 35 instruments on NASA spacecraft. I worked with the faculty, graduate students, research staff in pre-award and post-award activities. I worked with the Solar and Heliospheric Research Group which includes projects like the Parker Solar Probe and the Heavy Ion Sensor.

In my position, I was responsible for the financial management of those projects accounts. I worked with faculty, research scientists, students, and sponsors in order to successfully organize compliance, appropriations, expenses, and closeouts.

Taubman College provides a setting for individuals and groups to achieve the support they need to perform innovative research. One of my main tasks as research administrator was to provide pre-award support by creating required documentation and submitting proposals for our faculty and students. We have been awarded funding from the University, foundations, and federal sources. As an accountant, I processed the reimbursements and refunds of faculty, staff, and students as well as process invoice payments for supplies and services. I monitored payroll approval and troubleshoot time and employment issues.

The Michigan Nanotechnology Institute for Medicine and Biological Sciences is a true multidisciplinary team of chemists, physicists, engineers, toxicologists, physicians, biologists, pharmacists, and (bio)informatics specialists collaborating on nanoscience in biology and medicine. The Institute involves approximately 60 faculty in a "no-walls" model using facilities in the Engineering, Medical and LS&A schools to enhance competitiveness for externally funded grants and contracts.I provided financial analysis, grant budgeting, price analysis, and payroll processing. When needed, I also assisted in travel arrangements, Institute meeting management, laboratory safety and sustainability, and computer troubleshooting.
