Responsible for teaching third year bachelor students at Retail Management about big data analytics and challenges and opportunities of digitalization.

In my dissertation work, I have defined a research problem, attracted research grants (over one million SEK), conducted a thorough literature review, and gathered empirical data (using direct observation, interviews, archival data, and a questionnaire). I have analyzed data using Stata, SAS, Excel (macros and functions) and Access SQL. Results are presented in a dissertation monograph.During my PhD studies, I have supervised B.Sc. theses.

In parallel to my dissertation work, I assisted in another research project. I developed an interactive web program to store experimental data, performed statistical analyses and assisted in writing. The project aimed to explore how financial analysts evaluate corporate acquisitions. I used html, css, and JSP for the website and javascript and SQL queries to store the experimental data in a (MySQL) web server. SPSS was used to conduct statistical analyses. The results are published in the 'Accounting & Finance' journal (see link below).

Young Swedish Shareholders' Association aims to create the best possible opportunities for its members to save and invest in stocks, mutual funds and other types of savings.

I was responsible for book-keeping, hotel payments, currency planning and analysis of the financial results for five Greek destinations (Corfu, Parga, Lefkada, Samos, and Karpathos). I mainly used Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Excel (macros) and an internal IT solution for making hotel payments. I focused on finding opportunities to increase revenues and reduce costs (whilst keeping satisfied customers), for example by providing feedback to the area managers, renegotiating hotel contracts and changing the price levels used in the internal cost algorithm of last minute bookings. I gained insights into the tourism industry working overseas, visiting two of my destinations and testing working as a booking manager and as a leader at the SunWing KidsClub (including playing the role as Lollo, see video).

I evaluated the internal efficiency of the HR and finance support functions at Sandvik Mining and Construction. Interviews were conducted with ten managers (including the CFO, VPs, controllers and finance managers) to increase the understanding of the business. Key ratios were collected and compiled from nine sales units and five production units. The processes were benchmarked to 'best practices' (according to most recent management literature, the top performing units within the organization and a top performing company within a cluster of similar companies). Twelve additional interviews were conducted globally--with different people working for the sales and production units--to evaluate the current processes. Recommendations for improvement were presented (powerpoint and extended report) to the CFO, the VP HR, and a project manager of business development.
