Emem Ette Esq is an accomplished and practising Alternative Dispute Resolution ("ADR") mauve. She is a Social Conflict Management expert with over 1000 cases, including communal land ownership disputes, women's land rights, child custody, widows' disinheritance, etc.Skilled social advocacy professional with long-standing experience and interest in peacebuilding and social coexistence, an accomplished gender advocate, well vested in social reintegration, rehabilitation and collaborations with Government and other development partners through the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), where she served as Chairperson from 2018 - to 2021.In the past 15 years, she has actively led the provision of temporary shelters for survivors of sexual and other gender-based violence.She is currently studying for her PhD. in Women and Children's Protection and has been using her skills and knowledge in ensuring women and children have easy access to justice.She is a Director and Head of the Akwa Ibom State Government Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Response Department in the Ministry of Justice, Uyo. She is also the Secretary of the State's Gender-Based Violence Management Committee. She belongs to many professional organisations including the Nigerian Bar Association, where she has served as Treasurer, Welfare Secretary and 1st Vice Chairman. In addition, she's a member of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators and the African Women in Leadership Organisation, where she is the General Secretary and Legal Counsel.She is married to Hon. Justice Gabriel Ette.
