• Sole developer responsible for rewriting the note editor component of the Evernote Windows client to use the Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF), an embeddable version of Google’s Chromium web browser. This component, one of the major features of the Evernote product, is written in C++. The success of this project led to incorporating CEF into many other areas of the Windows client.• Designed and developed many core components of the Evernote Windows client. This included the login process, printing and print preview, PDF support, Activity Stream, Context and Related Notes, Atlas, Announcements, Note History, etc.• Adhered to a fast-paced, demanding schedule that called for frequent releases (including betas) that went out to many thousands of customers at a time.• Provided support to customers via the online Evernote User Forum helping users to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
Software Architect
• Led the design of CVP, the CoreStreet Validation Protocol. CVP defined the request/response protocol, ASN.1 message formats, and smart card profiles used to build high-security cardholder management systems and locks using strong cryptography.• Led the design and development of two SDKs built on top of CVP. The ACU SDK was designed for use in embedded systems running on third-party locks, while the AMS SDK was designed for use in cardholder management systems. Both SDKs were written in C and C#.• Led the design and development of several reference implementations built on top of CVP. This included a wall-mounted network-connected lock, a battery-operated mortise-style lock, and a cardholder management system with GUI. These reference implementations served as working examples for third-party integrators seeking to CoreStreet-enable their systems.• Oversaw the integration of CVP with third-party embedded locks and cardholder management systems.• Wrote an eCos Ethernet driver for CoreStreet’s network-connected reference implementation lock. Written in C for the ARM platform.
Team Lead, Physical Access
• Led the design and development efforts for CoreStreet’s Physical Access team. This included the rapid design and development of a network- and card-connected embedded access control unit and database-backed cardholder management system with GUI. This smart card based system extended central access control to unwired doors and high-security locks.• Developed a software library to communicate securely with ISO 14443 and ISO 15693 contactless smart cards, including HID’s iCLASS cards and NXP’s DESFire and MIFARE cards. Coded in C and C#.
Senior Software Engineer
• Developed a GUI front-end for SPSS’s Web Mining for Clementine 1.1 application (written in Java, using Swing and JNI). The GUI guided users through the process of selecting web data, specifying default import options, and launching the import.• Implemented an Apache module to log Set-Cookie requests on Solaris web servers (written in C, using the Apache API). By logging Set-Cookie requests, SPSS’ web analysis product offered customers a more reliable way to track and identify web site visitors.• Designed and implemented a ground-up rewrite of NetGenesis’ existing single-threaded job scheduler. The new job scheduler was a cross-platform (UNIX and Windows), multi-threaded C++ application that managed, prioritized, and launched user-scheduled jobs (specified as XML job tickets). It employed database-level resource locking to allow multiple jobs to run in parallel, enabling significantly higher throughput than the previous job scheduler.• Designed and implemented a comprehensive command-line interface for NetGenesis’ new job scheduler. This cross-platform C++ application allowed users to create, edit, delete, and manage their jobs, while also providing a robust scripting interface to the job scheduler.• Designed and implemented a general-purpose messaging server (the NetGenesis Post Office) that was responsible for receiving SOAP requests over a network socket and delivering them to an appropriate server. This cross-platform C++ application was implemented as a daemon on UNIX and as a service on Windows.• Designed and implemented extensive software unit tests in Perl and C++.• Rapidly diagnosed and fixed bugs in major NetGenesis client/server components as part of each standard release cycle.
Principal Software Engineer
• Developed a Windows C++ COM add-in to integrate Pegasystems’ main e-mail product with Microsoft Outlook. This add-in created a seamless interface to Pegasystems’ server-based e-mail application, allowing customers to use Outlook as the front-end to their existing messaging system.• Developed asynchronous programs to send and retrieve e-mail using Pegasystems’ internal messaging system and incorporate it into standard workflow scenarios. Written in C++, using MAPI.
Senior Software Engineer
• Led a team of engineers responsible for designing and developing ImageNet, a suite of server-side Windows applications (C++) that integrated digital image processing, faxing, and e-mail into Pegasystems’ workflow-automation product.
Software Engineer
• Designed and developed PegaPRISM, a client/server-based imaging workflow application. PRISM was written in object-oriented C++ using a platform-independent application framework (XVT). The GUI ran on Windows; the server ran on UNIX and Windows. Major financial institutions around the world used PRISM to create, store, and route customer documents and correspondence.• Provided on-site training and support for major clients. Assisted members of Pegasystems’ professional services group in diagnosing and resolving production issues at client sites in real-time.
