Word Mechanics provides a variety of editorial consulting services. Our activities have included free-lance writing/editing services for trade magazines such as Out of Home Magazine, Digital Graphics, Sign Business, European Sign Magazine, Industrial Fabrics Review, Repro Report, Printwear and InTents, as well as presentations for National Business Media, the Industrial Fabrics Association International, the International Reprographics Association and Coverings.

Out of Home Magazine was an online magazine with direct distribution to out-of-home professionals in the United States and Canada, and included news and features from all segments of the OOH advertising industry.

Stone Business was a monthly trade magazine for the dimensional-stone industry in North America. I developed the editorial plan for launching the magazine in September 2002, and remained responsible for all editorial content throughout its run. I also developed the editorial plan for Architectural Stone & Landscape Design, a bimonthly trade magazine for the exterior stone market that began publication in late 2006. I developed all editorial material for both publications from my home office in Palm Springs, Calif., and coordinated production via the Internet with the art director in Duluth, Minn. I also served as editorial director and Webmaster for two online information sources, www.stonebusiness.net and www.as-ld.com.

Digital Capture was a bimonthly trade magazine for professional digital photography. I produced a monthly Internet newsletter from March 2000-March 2002, and developed the editorial content for the print magazine that launched in September 2001. I also served as managing editor for the magazine from May 2001-December 2001.

I provided research and consulting services for the Large Format Printing Consulting Service, assisting in a variety of research products for the client base of industry manufacturers. I also produced Large Format News, a semimonthly 14-page newsletter covering topics in the large-format printing industry.

I served as editor for Sign Business Magazine; as a contributing writer and technologies editor for six of the company’s publications; and as technologies editor and editor-in-chief of Digital Graphics. In addition, I taught numerous seminars on computerized sign-making, large-format digital printing and connectivity at NBM-sponsored trade shows. I performed all functions, from 1990-on, from home-based offices in Gunnison, Colo., and Palm Springs, Calif.

I was responsible for the editorial content and layout of a 20- to 36-page publication.

I covered business in the Denver area with an emphasis on banking, finance and securities.

As a staff writer for a monthly regional business publication serving Montana, Wyoming and the western Dakotas, I covered a variety of topics and coordinated economic-data reports.
