Emerson is a young physiotherapist with a keen interest in gerontology, Aged Care services and business management. At the beginning of his professional career, Emerson worked with Domiciliary Care (Department for Communities and Social Inclusion) as an entry level clinician. Soon after, Emerson stepped into a senior case load, undertaking a head Physiotherapist role within his team and also having the opportunity in client case management. From here, Emerson moved into a private position with Flex Care, a subsidiary of Flex Rehabilitation, a prominent clinic in the heart of Norwood. Whilst his time as a physiotherapist has so far been limited, Emerson has achieved a great deal throughout his workings in Residential and Community care, particularly in his role as Community Manager. Not one to shy away from opportunity, Emerson also continues to build his business Enable Care, as it continues to expand well past his initial expectations of offering outpatient services. Recently, in collaboration with HUR group and Bene Aged Care, Emerson was successful in supporting an application for a substantial grant from the Commonwealth, allowing for the provision and implementation of an Aged Care friendly gym to support ‘Active Ageing’ across Bene clients. Moving forward, in 2019 Emerson is the sitting Chairperson of the SA Gerontology Physiotherapy Association (SA-GPA) where he is eager to continue contributing to the community and drive aged care reform at the legislative level.
