In my academic and professional pursuits, one thing I advocate for above all else is the blend of STEM and creativity. It's often easy to work with mathematics and science using a purely technical mindset, and we are often trained to do so. But, one of my greatest goals in life is to apply that technical knowledge to something that's not only practical, but engaging and appealing for whoever is using it. One example of this is my internship at application development company Ruvato, where I help create apps primarily designed for recovering addicts. This opportunity has taught me a great deal about app development in a technical sense, but has been further enhanced by how I have learned the power of UI design in matching the mission statement of an app, providing an intuitive and judgment-free service to its users.What I bring to the table is this drive to utilize both the power of rising technology and my accrued technical knowledge from my STEM background to help others see how creative expression is a critical part of technology and sciences. From entertainment to recovery, well-designed technology can do wonders in helping people across the world.
