About Sarah Emerson

You know those deductive reasoning word puzzles…Joe is taller than Bob, Carla has 2 more coins than Raja. What color eyes does Joe have? I LOVE THEM! I did them for fun after I finished all my work in high school (yes, I was the most athletic nerd around). I get to solve these types of conundrums every day now. I have found the point where my skills and strengths collide. I grew up in a small town, my family are farmers. My mom was a banker and my dad the Sheriff of our small town. Life was about necessity, facts, and hard work. I always thought that I loved those deductive reasoning puzzles because I just loved solving problems. What I have come to discover is that I have honed the skill of seeing a person’s strengths and connecting them to places where they can best shine. It was no longer about who was taller or had what color eyes, it is about how Joe is an excellent out of the box thinker, Carla can take a vision and build a plan to perfection, and Raja is able to execute on the plan with quality and creativity. I answered the call from Verizon 12 years ago to join the Collections department. I learned quickly, became a leader in the department, trained up other like minded people to fill the role I had taken on, then moved to the next challenge. I worked in collections, technical and customer support, learning & development, moved into business sales, then operations, and now am in Technical Project/Program management. Every change has brought new challenges to drive innovation, new people to bring together, new skills to develop, and new ways to make my department better than when I first arrived. I drive and facilitate solutions with efficiency by strategically connecting people, their skills, ideas and tools to strategy and planning resulting in exceptional success.
