I'm a math educator who leverages a background in computer science to make math engaging for university students. I draw on my background as a secondary math teacher to structure my lectures in ways that are based on pedagogical research and that help students learn. Before teaching, I was a computer scientist at the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) on the Small Business Innovation Research team and a simulation team. Within SBIR, I collaborated with technical experts and small businesses to integrate innovative solutions into Navy programs. I also developed software solutions for SBIR business processes.As a simulation software engineer at NAVAIR, I created solutions for military trainers, provided software support, and developed new features. I specialized in C++ user interface development, ensuring features met user expectations.Earlier, I led outdoor expeditions while studying full-time at the University of Maryland. I managed teams, designed multi-day itineraries, and ensured safety and a positive experience for participants. I maintained relevant certifications by becoming a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician and Wilderness First Responder.I hold a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, College Park.I enjoy staying in touch with former colleagues and helping others connect.
