I have a Ph.D in Medicine, with an engineering degree in biotechnology. I am driven by a deep interest in molecular biology and to find solutions to challenging problems, both biological and technical in nature. My goal is to apply my interest and knowledge of biological research in the industry developing products or therapies relating to human health.During my time as a PhD student I have worked with a wide range of models to answer very interesting biological questions, primarily in relation to the effects of Statin administration on heart function and the effects of reduced prenylation. My projects have involved the use of state of the art genetically modified animal models with analysis on all levels: Physiological measurements (ex. Ultrasound, Grip Testing), staining of tissues, analysis of DNA, RNA, and protein of tissues. In addition to In Vivo experiments, I have worked with several different types of cells In Vitro: primary macrophages and fribroblasts, immortalized cardiomyocyte cell lines, and iPSC models of human cardiomyocytes.In my projects I have mostly worked independently, which meant being responsible for posing the correct scientific questions and performing the required experiments to answer them, but my projects have also required teamwork and outside collaboration in order to succeed. Working as a part of a team with a greater goal is an environment that I feel very comfortable with and wish to continue to work in.
