My job is to analyze and record plant specimens in the Raker Trial Gardens. In addition, I help greet visitors as they arrive in the gardens, sign them in, and direct them to where they need to go. I also answer any questions they may have about the gardens. Agricultural companies send the company samples of their new and experimental plant varieties and we analyze whose samples grow the best with the same conditions. Specifically, I take detailed measurements of the plants and photograph the growing plants periodically for the Trial Garden website. I also performed all the tasks I was responsible for as part of the Trial Gardens Quality Support team. As the Periodicals Assistant, I stamped, labeled, and tattle taped all Magazines and newspapers that came in to the library. I shelved all periodicals, and I was responsible for maintaining and keeping the periodical shelves neat and organized. I was responsible for creating posters for special library events and labeling books and periodical storage boxes as well as withdrawing and recycling all old newspapers and books at the end of each week. I helped patrons find research and reference materials. In addition, I used Sierra and OCLC programs to update authority records on a regular basis. I was responsible for using Millenium and Sierra software to check books out to patrons of the library. In addition, I organized books using the Library of Congress Cataloguing System and re-shelved them. During the summer, I helped maintain the library.
