Whilst completing my MPhil and PhD degrees, I have continuously worked as a Research Assistant across numerous projects on a broad variety of topics such as student housing, work (digital and female entrepreneurs, fly-in fly-out), refugee settlement, ageing and sexuality, and the impact of Covid-19 on the arts sector. Responsibilities included: report writing; editing; literature search and reviews; qualitative textual analysis; secondary data analysis; ethics applications; publication and report writing; transcription; survey set-up; participant recruitment; research partner liaison.

I took on the role of Evaluations & Research Officer in order to optimise and simplify the evaluation process of the Courage to Care anti-discrimination education program in oder to utilise data for higher impact reports (i.e. grant applications and donor reports).Responsibilities: reworking of the evaluation survey, set-up of a data entry system; analysis of survey data; providing evidence-based data for grant proposals; presentation of findings to internal and external audiences.

Courage to Care is a travelling exhibition and corresponding educational program that uses stories of rescue from World War II in order to provoke conversations about social justice and bystander intervention in our communities. In my assistant role, I was supporting my colleagues in the planning and organisation of the exhibition. My daily tasks included:Evaluation of responses to the program and other initiatives; school outreach and liaison; rostering of volunteers; booking management; web maintenance; volunteer support and liaison; establishment and maintenance of the organisation’s social media presence; development of exhibition app; content research; development and maintenance of databases and spreadsheets.

Research and writing a case study about the ‘Going Home, Staying Home’ project, a reform initiative of homelessness services by the Department of Family and Community Services, NSW, AustraliaResponsibilities: Background research; literature and policy reviews; drafting of interview questions; conduction of semi-structured interviews; transcription; liaison with stakeholders from the government and the non-profit sector; development of the structure and outline of the case study.

Whilst studying abroad in Sweden and Australia, I worked as a freelance copywriter providing search engine optimised web content for several start-ups (technical online marketing).

During this internship with the Social Programs and Service team at the City of Sydney, I was involved in the planning, organisation, implementation and evaluation of the City of Sydney’s annual Living in Harmony Festival and other community initiatives, e.g. the International Student Leadership and Ambassador program.
