GA for Clemson University's First-Year Academic Programs. I work primarily with Summer Start, a summer program for incoming freshman where they can get ahead on coursework and have a better transition into their first year. I bring to the team my knowledge and experience from the College of Business as we cater to an ever-increasing population of incoming Pre-Business freshmen. I help conduct basic data analysis on metrics from years prior in MS Excel.In the fall to spring semester we plan for the summer. We also review and assess the performance of the previous summer session. We look at what went well and what did not in areas such as student engagement, academics, campus partners. We also look at how our hired peer leaders performed as group leaders. Another task is the success coaching throughout the summer. As Summer Start students progress through the summer II semester, we offer success coaching should they need help in any capacity.

My parental background are in areas such as warehouse, manufacturing, and management. Having worked in that setting during my formative years, I wanted to know if management could've been a possible career path. I confirmed that it is a career I could handle, but I learned that my passion lies elsewhere. There are aspects of economics and data analytics that I took from this role: metrics such as packages fulfilled, lost, and damaged, which always have a price attached to them. I learned how Amazon makes a profit by being a e-commerce company. However, what I think most important about this internship are the invaluable interpersonal skills it taught me. I learned what it meant working as a team and as a team leader in one of the most hectic work environments in the United States.I was an area manager intern for a newly launched Gen-11 fulfillment center. At the time, it was the second largest FC in the United States. Because I was placed in a launched FC, my internship experience here was like I was working not as an intern but as an actual manager. I operated for the most part independently, and I was assigned my own team of associates. The extent of my supervision was through what they could see on performance software, and any feedback was relayed through Slack or over radio.Aside from daily operations, I worked on a white paper where I had to propose and defend a method to improve operations in my area. My project had numerical data on how many packages were lost daily due to robotic malfunctions on the conveyor belt system. This was also related to the issue of halted conveyor belts when our laser sensors were blocked by aforementioned robotic incorrect package placement. My solution was a simple, cost-effective netting implementation to keep packages from clogging and dropping onto the robotic floor, the number one cause for lost packages and halted conveyor belts based on my observations.
