I was born and raised in Finley, North Dakota, where I graduated in 2018 alongside seven classmates. After graduating high school, I moved to Valley City, ND, where I earned an Associate of Arts degree from Valley City State University while also working full-time. In April of 2022, I made the move to Grand Forks, ND, where I accepted my first job position in higher education, while I also began taking classes towards completing my Bachelor's degree, both at the University of North Dakota. From August of 2022 until late October of 2023, I worked in the Nistler College of Business & Public Administration at UND as an Administrative Assistant for three different offices within the Nistler College in the office of Student Engagement - the Office of Academic Advising, the Pancratz Career Development Center, and the Office of Graduate Programs.Alongside taking classes and working at the Nistler College, in March 2023, I created and built my own event planning business, Events by Emily, LLC. In 2023, I accomplished and learned so many new things that I never thought possible, including the planning and coordination of my first professional wedding through my business!In October 2023, I took on my current role at the University of North Dakota as the Events and Communication Specialist in the Division of Research & Economic Development. Through this position, I have had opportunities to not only meet so many new people and make new connections every day, but also learn so much about graphic design and event planning for industry and government events. When I'm not at work, I love spending time with my fiancé, our dog and three cats as well as practicing yoga. We just purchased our first home together in February 2024, so we have had so much fun turning our house into a home through little projects here and there.
