I guide a dedicated team (12 members) and a wider partner consortium in Kakuma, Turkana in northern Kenya. We will build on Turkana’s development plan to integrate refugee and host communities incl. service delivery. Climate Proofing WASH Services project funded by DANIDA and Poul Due Jensen’s/Grundfos Foundation: We will strengthen community resilience and economic self-reliance via sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene services, market-based opportunities, inclusive policies, and applying a focus on youth. Nurturing Futures project funded by Danmarks Indsamlingen (‘the united Danish appeal for funds’): We will improve food security, nurturing care practices, and early learning services.

Programme management: Oversee all aspects of WDF's two largest projects (a third by 2024), which are national NCD programmes in Tanzania and Kenya co-funded by Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF). Both based on national NCD plans and decades long partnerships with multiple new specialised partners and in Kenya all 47 counties - common goal of integrating NCD prevention and control into primary health care (and devolution) in an era of convergence. I authored application components; lead engagements with donors and partner leadership; supervise partner secretariats on strategic implemementation, finances, MEL, communication, project governance e.g. setting up of ERP. I oversee four other projects. Drove forward partners' project formulation and sought board approval of pioneering three-year six-country high-level advocacy project incl. gender-focus. With background in implementation research on refugee health, I advised on formulation of and inception phases for ongoing multi-country projects in the region with UNHCR and Red Cross. Advisor: My proposal to become WDF's first staff member based outside of Denmark was met with interest and trust - four national programme managers followed incl. a colleague in Kenya, which freed up time for advocacy and exploration of innovative financing incl. focus on integrated care opportunities helped by recent UHC advancements. I passionately support ministry and civil society partners and engage with INGOs, UN agencies, and intergovernmental organisations. NNF consults me on a monthly basis. I led three donor chairmanship field visits in Kenya. Advocacy: Partner-nominated member of national sub-task force groups alongside UN agencies and INGOs. Permanent representative in donor partner groups for health. Active engagement and public speaking (English and Swahili fluency) at numerable major conferences and events, latest judge and expert at UNLEASH Kigali. Media spokesperson and coordination point for BBC advocacy film production.

Capacity building: In East Africa, I directed teams to implement educational, research and institutional university capacity building activities under the Danida-supported Building Stronger Universities. Incl. building postgraduate programmes, facilitating south-south learning exchanges, and state-wide roll out of water quality analysis services in an effort to sustain university laboratories, to stimulate public-private partnerships, and to meet community outreach KPIs.Field training: From 2015, I remodelled, coordinated, and co-directed annual Health Systems field training in Tanzania and Global Health Research field training in Sri Lanka.Partnerships: From 2018, pioneered as the first to be permanently stationed outside of Denmark and close to partners in East Africa. I raised funds for and established ongoing strategic cross-faculty, - university and -sector networks bend on strengthening synergetic efforts, resource sharing, mobility, and case-based learning.Research support: Supported data collection, analysis, and grant management. Developed reports, workshops, concept notes, partnership agreements, production and policy brief plans, university level strategy drafts, and grant applications incl. one successful on NCD care to refugees in Kenya, which contained my PhD fellowship that I did not pursue due to delays caused by COVID-19.Events: I directed and co-executed 25 elaborate open events with INGOs, UN, CSOs and royalty. I conceptualised, co-directed, and scaled Global Health Case Challenge driven by topical real-life problems posed by collaborators IFCR, WHO, Danish Red Cross, Gehl Architects, and more. I directed three junior staff (two on a permanent basis) in raising funds exporting the concept to Zanzibar.Open online learning: I raised funds for and produced 1) e-learning material on global refugee health while promoting Creative Commons in higher education, and 2) high-end podcast series on sustainable tourism in Zanzibar.

I was sole responsible for the production of educational film based on ten months independent anthropological fieldwork in Kiambu County on adults at the base of the pyramid living with diabetes and their understandings of diabetes management and adherence. Financed by Novo Nordisk A/S and produced in collaboration with the Ministry of Health in Kenya, the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA), the Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK) and PCEA Kikuyu Hospital.The film was approved by ethical, medical and ministerial boards and based on numerous meeting with shareholders, filmed interviews, focus group sessions, observed patient consultations, etc. I obtained my postgraduate degree and the film were published for national distribution.

Denmark / Tanzania

Parallel to my studies senior anthropologist Kim Nielsen and I offered an annual, three-week, intensive training camp in dialogue with village government in rural northern Tanzania. Training applied a holistic approach to intercultural understanding based on ethnographic principles and methods. Client groups included Danish engineers and anthropology students. The training camps continue without me, and on an annual basis from 2015-2019 I continued to engage the community via curricular, two-way discussions and follow-up focus group interviews between MSc Global Health students and local midwives, herbalists and political leaders.I co-directed the intensive training camps, and I managed a team of 16 seasonal national staff members and one junior anthropologist, and the business administration incl. day-to-day, marketing, accounting, and legal affairs.I consider it an extensive success, primarily because of enthusiastic feedback by clients and all stakeholders involved over the years, but also because we were profitable enough to sustain operations and execute our mission from day one.

Once weekly for four months I independently taught the subject Basic anthropological concepts and theories for four hours to a class of 35 undergraduate students from different educational programmes. I taught a new class of 33 undergraduate students the following year. Topics included political organisation, stratification and power, ethnicity and nationality, democracy (and the concepts ethnos and demos), gender, structural violence, ecology and society, religion as cultural system, and fieldwork methodologies.My teaching received no negative feedback and both classes graduated with B on an average.

I was responsible for coordinating pan-university collaboration on two journals, quarterly publications, proof-reading, layout, marketing, subscribers, finance, event coordination, and annual board meeting. Responsibilities were timely executed and at own initiative I secured 30 new subscribers.

Aarhus Municipality

I was assigned to meet (bi-monthly) with a young adult man with diagnoses and a criminal record and to guide him in structuring his every day and encourage self-driven development.

For two years I taught English, Danish and math to four classes of 8-12-year olds full-time followed by part-time substitute teaching. After school hours I was a substitute pedagogue for the same children. On own initiative I was also successful in applying for a municipality small grant to engage immigrant school children with a local amateur theatre and a circus.
