I would also compile monthly spreadsheets comparing emails in depth: total circulation, open rate, click through, responders, total sales, incremental sales, ROI. • Research on what competitive retail companies are doing in email and CRM in general was critical to understand what is being done elsewhere and what we could do better. I subscribed to dozens of retailer’s emails in order to be knowledgeable about what others are doing around product, social media and offer strategies. • Other stretch projects included working with and understanding what our PR and strategy teams were working on, to better align our email calendar with overall company goals. • My final project was to research ways to incorporate social media into our direct mail and drive to stores email programs. My recommendations included changing the top format of emails to include social media buttons, adding an opt in to social media on the opt out of email page (in the process of being implemented) adding QR codes to download the iphone application to Direct mail, and adding a Twitter logo to Direct mail pieces (which was implemented).
