Highlights -Leveraged relationship with REI to form a “Legacy Partnership,” a multi-year $450,000 investment from REI to support capacity-building and raising public awareness of the Ridge Trail-“Sold Out” Ridge to Bridge event in 2015, 2016, and 2017; raised $100,000+. Each year, over 400 participants and volunteers enjoyed long-distance shuttled hikes and rides, catered lunch, and safety support.-In 2015, brought in 10 additional land-agency partners and 300 additional volunteers on annual trail work event, Ridge Trail Day (800 volunteers total). -Developed outings program from ad-hoc/non-existent to support over 20 outings per year-Developed volunteer program to support 1,000 volunteers annually.-Piloted a new volunteer training, which provides tools for volunteer leaders to train others to lead outings and be effective advocates.-Oversaw creation of new Trail Advocacy Groups: committees of volunteers who work on local trail issues, outreach, and events.
-Plan and host weekly in-store classes and special events, develop relationships with key community groups and media contacts, coordinate volunteer service projects, issue grants, create content for store events webpage, seek out sponsorship opportunities and represent REI at local community events.-Opened new REI in Dublin, California. Nominated for the peer-recognized Anderson Award.Since hired in 2011, I have worked within REI as an Outdoor School Instructor, Retail Trainer, Bay Area REI Social Media Practitioner, and Sales Specialist.
-Coordinated all aspects of Early Childhood, Afterschool, Youth Intern and special programs. Developed community partnerships and completed research to create original, educational programs. Recruited program instructors.-Wrote media releases, created original posters for special events using Adobe InDesign, and prepared updates for museum website.
