I believe that there can be balance between creativity, productivity, and team health. I very much strive to clear the path for those I work with and work toward this balance. I strive to build bridges between field, corporate staff, and interdepartmentally. There also was a need to form processes, procedures, and structure to projects to which I work in collaboration with my teammates to do so. I don't believe in making promises on behalf of my team but including them in identifying what commitments and timeframes are realistic for us to accomplish the goals of those we are supporting and their communication needs. An example of building out this structure is the implementation of a ticketing system for managing smaller projects, as well as production of project forms and project change forms to better define larger projects. I also work closely with field staff to define better procedures on approval and security.I'm continuing to use the project management software implemented when I was Advancement Project Manager, currently I am working with senior leadership on feasibility of implementing project management(PM) software globally.

As the Advancement Project Manager, I worked successfully with the team to select and implement project management software, teamwork.com. Over the next year we worked on allowing this to naturally grow within Advancement by being strategic in our use. I don't believe in process over productivity. As a result of this belief, there has been a greater acceptance of this system and it has proven to be extremely helpful as an organizational and project communication tool. It was also implemented for the greater organization to use as time sheets by our Finance Department.In my time in this position, I fielded departmental requests and managed the process of projects. I also substituted for the previous Communication Director when director was unavailable. I conducted training on PM software, video production and print production. Like so many ministries, there are always a variety of tasks within your job. For example, I lead collaborative, creative and strategic meetings. I also helped in coordinating and facilitating a major donor event and other events. One of the largest projects I worked with our team, was in driving the rebuild of the organization’s website. Meeting together consistently, prioritizing, and using teamwork.com we were able to not only complete the rebuild, but also get feedback on the site. During a time where we did not have a graphic or web designer, we had to solely work with contractors to meet those needs. I also worked with vendors to produce materials and coordinate all of this to get done ahead of due dates. I was the sole contact person for these relationships.

In this role I was in charge of production of international videos, graphic design, displays, and other various communication pieces start to finish. These were always with collaboration and feedback from other team members. I would often times be part of brainstorming initial ideas for campaigns and events. During this time I was able to build a bridge with a lot of our field staff and understanding their needs from our department. It was during this time that I began fielding their requests and working to get them what they needed from the Communications Department.

I've worked with Design Outreach to produce their promotional videos and tell their story since 2013. I have traveled once with them to Malawi to film their LifePump installation and the impact it has on communities to provide clean water with a lasting reliable source. I am very passionate about their approach to clean water. That poor people do not deserve poor solutions. Most of my work with them is in editing footage they gather on the field.
