At the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, I create engaging and interactive learning experiences that inspire curiosity and appreciation for the natural world. As an Education Programs Assistant, I implement public and K-12 outdoor educational programs for three counties in the DMV area, reaching up to 120 students per day. I also manage the husbandry care for fish tanks and ambassador terrapins, track the expenses for public school teachers, train seasonal interns and volunteers, and plan the annual volunteer appreciation event.I have a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Angelo State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Marine Sciences from the University of Maine. I have over seven years of experience in marine education, including instructing paid programs at the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, handling various ambassador animals, and introducing the Phytoplankton Monitoring Network to the facility. I am passionate about applying my skills and knowledge in education, outdoor education, and time management to promote environmental awareness and conservation.
