From an impressionable age, I have always had a personable passion for serving and assisting others. My time in the UNT Social Work Program has prepared me with skills such as communication, organization, and active listening. I have had the opportunity to grow my capabilities by participating in hands on service projects such as mentoring programs, facilitating groups, and holding fundraising events for local non-profits. Through field experience working for Denton County Friends of the Family, I had the amazing opportunity to connect with clients by performing intakes and completing professional documentation. My experience as an AmeriCorp with Communities in Schools of North Texas has allowed me to propagate my abilities by working directly with a caseload of 10 students. I was able to provide mentoring services as well as connect students with necessary resources to ensure they have a safe space to learn and grow. My current position with CISNT as a High Impact Tutor similarly includes connecting a case load of 12 students with individualized services to meet their educational needs. While I have always been an empathetic individual, these experiences have been most impactful in allowing me to grow the skill of applying empathy to enrich the lives of others. I would love to continue to expand my skillset by working with a diverse range of individuals. I am looking to support my client’s life goals through direct intervention and advocacy efforts.
