As a social media coordinator, I was responsible for managing the Twitter account for milk magazine. This includes keeping their followers up to date with the goings-on of the publication, such as new articles, events and any changes surrounding the magazine itself. I make sure to keep the posts on Twitter relevant to the publication as well as keeping within the tone and branding that is used not only for milk but also regarding other social media accounts.

I volunteered for Seal's Cove, a local antique emporium, to help them create an online presence through Instagram. This involved creating a social media strategy that would reflect their brand, ethos and appeal to their audience.I used images that captured the feel of the business and well as key items that would encourage their audience to visit. The images required little editing as they wanted an informal and relaxed feel to their account to reflect the family nature of the business. I received positive feedback from the manager and was told that I have provided a good start to their presence that they can then build upon as their business progresses.

For a short time, I was given the role of a part-time sub-editor during my involvement with milk magazine. This required a good understanding of grammar, punctuation, and tone as I was asked to proofread drafts of articles before they were at an approved standard for publishing onto the website. Whilst doing so I had to keep in mind the voice of the author as well as the voice of the magazine which required careful sub-editing. I thoroughly enjoyed this role as I got to experience the drafting of articles and the ways in which magazine articles are edited before they are made available to the public.

As part of my studies, I volunteered to act as a Contributor for the Lifestyle section of milk magazine. This involved seeking content that would appeal to the target audience and write articles using the house style. During my involvement as a Contributor, I had two articles published on the magazine's website which included my own photography that I had edited to an approved standard from the multimedia editor using Adobe Photoshop. One of the articles that I had published was written for a client outside the university, Remyx Breakdancing Classes, who contacted the magazine and asked to have an article written about the upcoming classes in Bath and Bristol. I volunteered for the task as I wanted to work with people beyond the university. I was given their press release and conversed with the management in order to gain the information I needed to write the article which was quickly published in the online publication.
