My degree is in Deaf Education and Elementary Mathematics with 9 years of completed teaching experience. I interned with first grade students at A.L. Lotts Elementary and middle school writing students at Tennessee School for the Deaf. I have worked as an interim teacher at Luttrell Elementary School for second grade and PreK. I was then hired as the fourth grade math teacher at Luttrell Elementary School. I spent 7 years teaching mathematics to fourth graders until I made the transition to third grade mathematics. Before my time at Luttrell Elementary, I was able to complete my internship being mentored by experienced educators. I learned valuable skills to apply to my future career. During my internship, my teaching was observed based on the Tennessee Educator Acceleration Model (TEAM) rubric. I completed the edTPA project to gain my licenser in elementary k-6 and Deaf education preK-12. Colleagues know me as always being punctual, passionate, and enthusiastic. I am always eager to learn new teaching styles/methods and work with a group of students. I believe every student can be successful. I have a Bachelor's and Master's degree from the University of Tennessee Knoxville as well as a second Master's in Elementary Mathematics.The level of education I have obtained in addition to the years of educational growth I have possessed over my time teaching would be an asset not only to a school but to any district. I have been the lead math teacher for fourth grade for the past seven years where I have engaged students to support their love of learning. My TNReady scores are a direct reflection of my teaching practices and demonstrate the level of effectiveness I have to work with students on mastering the grade-level content. I have worked closely with the district coach and implemented various teaching methods and practices. I have been able to reflect on my teaching methods and practices to enhance the learning of my students. I have enhanced my teaching practices through my analysis of data. The data allows me to monitor students’ progress and have regular conversations with students about their progress. In addition, I have worked with the 3rd-8th math teachers within the district to have a better understanding of how the standards progress and build on one another. Overall, my teaching methods and practices would benefit any public school system.I am currently teaching third grade math while I pursue new opportunities.
