I am an MBIOMS Graduate in Integrated Masters in Biomedical Sciences, where I overall achieved a 1st Class Honours. In my third-year dissertation, I was able to provide a valid comparison between pharmacological and modern surgical approaches of Septal Myectomy in the treatment of Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy. Subsequent untreated cardiomyopathy significantly increased the risk of a patient to suffer sudden cardiac death (SCD), therefore the administration of the most deemed effective treatment approach is paramount. For the proposal, I achieved a First Class Honours. Alongside having an interest in Cardiology, I, alongside PhD students, decided to conduct a research project in my fourth year, looking at the 'Isolation and Characterisation of Human Extracellular Vesicles (EVs) from HEK293'. Primarily, the aim of the research was to isolate EVs from HEK293, and measure their re-uptake into viable cells via EVOS Imagery and Flow Cytometry, dependant on their concentration. This research was completed in September 2020. We aim for this research to potentially aid towards a cancer therapeutic intervention, in the future. For this proposal, I achieved a First Class Honours.I am now the West & North Yorkshire Paediatric SARC/CSAAS Lead. It is my responsibility to effectively lead and manage the multi-agency service, commissioned by NHS England Health and Justice and in accordance to the most up to date FFLM (Faculty of Forensic & Legal Medicine) guidelines. The CSAAS stands for Children’s Sexual Abuse Assessment Service, which supports CYP who are survivors of rape, sexual assault or abuse.
