Kinthera helps people access mental health services by matching them with a therapist through an online, automated platform. As the solo founder, I am responsible for all product development, operations, marketing, and strategic planning. Kinthera has now launched an MVP in August 2020, and I look forward to continuing to make a better, more diversified suite of products as Kinthera continues grow.

As a Program Coordinator, I am in charge of screening incoming volunteers; this includes reviewing the mentor's application, references, vulnerable sector police check, and interactions towards myself. I am additionally in charge of incoming children and families interested in our programs; this includes conducting a telephone screen with the guardian to determine if the mentee would benefit from our programs, if our programs are a suitable fit, and if our mentors and other mentees would benefit positively from interacting with this youth. All roles listed above must be documented in a suitable manner, as per Big Brothers Big Sisters' National Standards.

Work with youth experiencing multiple barriers in a group home setting, ranging from developmental, behavioural and mental health challenges. I enforce daily routine and programming, ensuring the youth are continuously learning to overcome their barriers and improve social and life skills. This position requires constant communication with staff to ensure proper child and youth work protocol and safety of both staff and youth.

The City of Waterloo has been working on the "Neighbourhood Strategy," an endeavour focused on improving the relationships between Waterloo residents in hopes of making Waterloo a more warming and neighbourly community. I was first required to review and comprehend work done on this project thus far. I then worked with a team to develop questions to provoke rich, meaningful answers from community members. I attend community events and walk through community facilities and spaces asking community members questions regarding their neighbourhood, attaining information and informing them of the Neighbourhood Strategy. This position requires continuous collaboration with team members to review and organize data to recognize patterns in these answers. The questions asked are consistently altered to ensure the most useful information is evoked from local residents.

I find youth with multiple barriers within my community and assist them with receiving summer employment. This includes identifying these youth, facilitating employment related workshops, placing them with an employment placement, and lastly ensuring their placement is a successful learning experience.

I assist clients with general inquiries regarding employment related services. This includes but is not limited to resume workshops, online job search, Microsoft Word and email use, as well as other community related services such as Employment Insurance and Ontario Works. I additionally assist my counsellors and other coworkers in a number of tasks, while also providing my knowledge I have attained throughout my psychology undergraduate degree.

Facilitate one-on-one sessions with troubled youth. These sessions are one hour long, held weekly with each of my 11 youth I am responsible for. I must not only play educational games and assist each youth with their own personal learning goals, but also lay out goals for each match that are to be attained by the end of our time together throughout the months that I am working with them. Each one hour session must be documented, including what activities we did, any changes I see in the youth, any concerns regarding their well-being, and how I would like to proceed in future sessions. A summary of each youth's progress is documented at the end of my co-op term and given to the next In-School Mentor that will be working with each of my youth.
