I am a social justice educator, working as an independent consultant specializing in equity and diversity in K-12 settings. I have over two decades of experience as a classroom teacher, professional developer, curriculum designer and education writer. I have taught in public, charter and juvenile detention settings, in Newark, NJ and Washington, DC. I have experience working for non-profit organizations such as the Children’s Defense Fund's Freedom Schools program and The Southern Poverty Law Center’s Learning for Justice project (formerly Teaching Tolerance), and One World Education. I am the principal author of the Learning for Justice Social Justice Standards and have authored articles about the school to prison pipeline, culturally competent instructional coaching and white racial identity. A ’98 Teach for America corps member and graduate of Binghamton University, I hold a master’s degree in philosophy and social policy from American University in Washington, D.C.
