As a Director of Communications with Westfall Local Schools, I manage and direct the district's internal and external communication, including a printed publication, The Word Around Westfall, a quarterly newsletter mailed to residents highlighting student success and innovative classroom education. In addition, a monthly e-newsletter is emailed to staff and families with events, celebrations, and important dates for the month ahead. Another wonderful opportunity that I enjoy through my position as a Director of Communications is incorporating my love of photography into my work. Taking photos of education in action makes my position so enjoyable. Communication is key in a school district. In addition to keeping our families informed on upcoming events and celebrating student achievements, our district went on the ballot for a bond issue to help fund a 62,000-square-foot addition connecting the middle and high schools with a new high school media center, shared kitchen, and student dining space, four science laboratories, and a state-of-the-art athletic facility. Through the increased district communication, our bond issue passed, and the construction of our new building is weeks from completion.
