• Led internal consultations with staff and network members and developed an agenda for consensus-building during a convening of partners to develop a new strategic plan for SIHA, a leading regional feminist organization with programming revolving around preventing violence against women and girls and facilitating access to justice.• Collated perspectives based upon reflection of recent programming and emerging needs by SIHA stakeholders to develop a strategic plan, advocacy strategy, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning plan.

• Led research into the issue of double standards in international justice, with a particular focus on the International Criminal Court (ICC), for internal use and strategic advocacy planning aimed at reform discussions at the ICC’s annual Assembly of States Parties. • Contributed to key messaging and the coordination of various advocacy missions, including a mission of Sudanese and African advocates on the sidelines of the 78th UN General Assembly and before US Government bodies on the need for civilian inclusion into mediation mechanisms to the conflict in Sudan. • Designed a winning project on enhancing the capacity of young Sudanese women to contribute to the peace process in Sudan.

• Served as the coordinator of the Horn of Africa Civil Society Forum (HoACS), a coalition engaged on restrictions on civic space in the East and Horn of Africa, and led strategic initiatives to develop an advocacy plan and assess the capacity and needs of HoACS members.• Developed projects on diverse rights topics by defining long-term objectives alongside key stakeholders.• Coordinated urgent advocacy appeals for individuals at risk in Sudan, facilitating communication with the special procedures mechanisms of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UN HRC) and the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR).• Successfully secured grants from multiple philanthropic organizations for driving organizational programs/projects.

• Edited and provided comments on a profiling report aimed at providing medical and psycho-social support to male survivors of gender-based violence in Northern Uganda.

• Researched and wrote initial drafts in the process of developing a project on Development Induced Displacement in Africa, which aims to provide grassroots networking amongst displaced communities• Researched psycho-social dimensions of the refugee experience and assisted in reviewing literature for ongoing working papers on Identity and Citizenship in the Great Lakes region of Africa • Attended Civil Society Meetings on thematic issues surrounding the Responsibility to Protect norm and the International Criminal Court, as well as Gender Based Violence in Sudan

Death Penalty Abolition Campaign, Washington, D.C. • Wrote daily on compelling death penalty issues on AIUSA’s activist blog, and drafted clemency letters from Urgent Actions that were then sent out to a grassroots network • Researched pending executions and trends in capital punishment, and followed worldwide death penalty abolition and moratorium efforts • Attended public Commission hearings on the abolishment of Maryland’s death penalty

Washington, D.C.• Trained to become a counselor on the GI Rights Hotline, which provides free and anonymous counseling on the legal rights of conscientious objectors in the United States • Helped to organize a lobby day to promote the Military Conscientious Objector’s Act, which would expand the rights given to conscientious objectors under federal U.S. law.
