"Investigating Chondrocyte Retention Kinetics of Matrix-Targeted and Cell-Targeted C’ Dots in Cartilage Explants Over Five Days".This research project delves into the intricate mechanisms underlying the retention kinetics of targeted C’ Dots within chondrocytes in cartilage tissue explants. Our primary aim is to discern how matrix-targeted and cell-targeted C’ Dots interact with chondrocytes over a span of five days, with a hypothesis suggesting that cell-targeted C’ Dots will demonstrate enhanced internalization and prolonged retention compared to their untargeted or matrix-targeted counterparts.Our experimental methodology involves precise preparation of trimmed cylindrical cartilage plugs, followed by meticulous incubation with C’ Dots under controlled conditions. Advanced imaging techniques and sophisticated analytical tools are employed to meticulously track the retention dynamics of C’ Dots within chondrocytes throughout the experimental timeline.The findings from this research hold profound implications for targeted drug delivery strategies in cartilage regeneration and disease therapeutics. I'm eager to share our discoveries and contribute to the advancement of biomedical research.

In my role as a Teaching Assistant for Physics 1110: Introduction to Experimental Physics, I provide invaluable support to students as they delve into the fundamentals of experimental physics. During my tenure at the Bonassar Lab, I actively collaborated with the Wiesner Lab (MSE) to drive the advancement of C' Dot nanotechnology for targeted osteoarthritis therapeutics. Our research focused on the engineering of therapeutic agents with the aim of specifically targeting osteoarthritis. Through our preliminary work, we successfully demonstrated the ability of C' Dots to penetrate the dense, avascular cartilage matrix and effectively reach resident chondrocytes within the tissue. Moreover, our functionalized C' Dots showcased a notable reduction in effective diffusivity, attributed to their reversible interactions with the matrix. In this project, my primary responsibility involved the engineering of C' Dots to bind with targets present in the cartilage matrix, thereby facilitating enhanced delivery of therapeutic agents.

As a Robotics Intern at the Organic Robotics Lab at Cornell University, my primary responsibilities included analyzing the gait speed of robots and creating CAD setups for experimentation. I actively participated in cutting-edge research projects focused on developing innovative robotic systems. One of my key duties involved analyzing the gait speed of robots, where I conducted thorough evaluations and assessments to measure and optimize their locomotion capabilities. By collecting and analyzing data, I provided valuable insights that contributed to enhancing the overall performance and efficiency of robotic locomotion.In addition, I played a pivotal role in creating CAD setups for experiments, utilizing my proficiency in computer-aided design tools. Collaborating closely with the research team, I designed and developed precise CAD models and setups, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of experiments conducted in the lab. My attention to detail and proficiency in CAD software facilitated seamless experimentation and data collection.Throughout my internship, I embraced a multidisciplinary approach, working alongside talented researchers and engineers to advance the field of robotics. This project will be focused on developing, characterizing, and demonstrating the capability of a variantof the loaders. The original loader is machined (by a desktop mill) from solid piece of plastic (Delrin -acetal homopolymer), and metal bars are required to prevent bending from machining stress to ensureeven loading volume. The platform is composed of two parts: the omniphobicplates patterned with hydrophilic patches, and the loading device (loader) that deposits the liquid ofinterest onto the hydrophilic patches.The envisioned new variant will improve on a couple of fronts: 1) Enable variable “pick and use” loader configurations. 2) Inherit geometrical consistency, which strongly impacts the loading volume. 3) Metal rail + plastic insert design for customizability and reduction in cost of consumables. 4) Upscaling the manufacturing of such loaders. After the developed loader has been wellcharacterized, a proof-of-concept experiment will be performed.

During my summer internship at Arthrex, I had the exciting opportunity to contribute to medical product design within the organization. As an intern, I actively participated in the development of cutting-edge medical devices and solutions, working alongside a talented team of engineers and designers. My primary focus was on applying my skills and knowledge to design innovative products that would have a direct impact on improving patient outcomes and advancing the field of healthcare.Throughout the internship, I immersed myself in various stages of the product design process, from ideation and conceptualization to prototyping and testing. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, I conducted thorough research, gathered user feedback, and iteratively refined designs to ensure optimal functionality, usability, and safety.Working at Arthrex allowed me to gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art medical technologies and industry best practices. It provided me with valuable insights into the intricate regulatory and quality requirements involved in medical product design. This internship not only honed my technical skills but also nurtured my passion for creating innovative solutions that positively impact patients' lives.

Competing for four years under ISEF lead me to 2 first place titles in my category (CMBI) in regionals and states, as well as over 5,000 of special awards and prize money.
