Educating others is my passion! My day to day focus is to facilitate learning experiences across a variety of topics, including clinical skills, and acute clinical conditions, and policy/practice changes. In my current position I've helped to implement a Nurse Residency Program, a Preceptor Development Program, and an Orientation Program in order to improve competency and confidence among our nursing staff, as well as improve retention. I was a key player in the development of a Nurse Technician program that brings student nurses to the bedside, allowing for the development of their clinical skills, as well as aiding in the recruitment of competent nurses.I am a current TNCC Course Director, ACLS Instructor, and BLS Instructor. I have an interest in simulation and have completed an educational program for the role of simulation technician. The subject I most enjoy teaching about is Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation, with my knowledge in this area gained from my past experience working in a cardiac telemetry stepdown unit.In my current role I have the opportunity to act as a mentor to new graduate nurses as they transition to professional practice, helping them to close the academic to practice gap. We implement reflective practice during our nurse residency meetings, and during this time I am able to listen and assess for opportunities for further learning.
