A team of several other undergraduates and I sifted through thousands of tree cores collected in Rocky Mountain National Park over the past 25 years. We separated each core by geographic location, then by age and years with recorded releases to discover whether the current bark beetle outbreak coincides with natural processes or if climate change is playing a role. This results of this research project were presented at the Rocky Mountain Research Conference by Jason Sibold in March 2020. Unfortunately, we were unable to continue this research due to the beginning of the pandemic.

Engaged in hands-on research with Dr. Jason Sibold and the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES). We collected hundreds of tree cores to study the frequency and intensity of bark-beetle outbreaks, as well as fire risk in White River National Forest.

Researched alongside Dr. Richard Adams on several archaeology related experiences. Most notably, I assisted Dr. Adams and two other archaeologists on a two week long backcountry trip in the Wind River mountain range in northwestern Wyoming. Our tasks included locating and documenting Shoshone artifacts such as wikiups, arrowheads, soapstone bowls, etc.
