This program honors the legacy of Daphne L. Derven, whose educational vision and commitment to outreach continues to inspire staff and students at THNOC. The summer 2023 Derven Scholar will work with THNOC education staff to plan, create, and facilitate educational programs or develop resources that can be used in K-12 classrooms.

I wrote articles for "Red," the Arts and Culture special section of The Advocate newspaper. I wrote a number of articles ranging from covering touring indie bands, restaurant reviews, local blues musicians, Louisiana Comic Con at the Baton Rouge library, Baton Rouge Pride, and more.

I worked as a teaching artist in The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge's Summer and Spring Break camps. Additionally, I taught poetry to second and fourth grade classes at two Baton Rouge schools.
