Ph.D. in experimental particle physics with the ATLAS collaboration at CERN. Research focused on searching for new physics in final states involving b-quarks and τ-leptons. Introduced machine learning techniques to my analysis which significantly improved sensitivity to signal process. Major contributor to two papers. Experienced in working in various teams as part of an international collaboration. Presented research to a variety of audiences, from school groups to physics conferences.

18-month placement involving additional responsibilities around my research, for example: control room shifts where I was responsible for careful running of the data acquisition system under high pressure; on-call shifts as a data quality expert; and acting as a representative of my university and experiment giving detector tours to VIP visitors.

Three-month internship in Hazard Management in the nuclear energy sector. Completed project involving calculating shielding required to store radioactive waste safely. Spent five weeks conducting research on client site at Sellafield Limited.
