Customer And Trading Manager
Essex, England, United Kingdom
As a Customer and Trading Manager I was responsible for the handling and processing of all cash that passed through the store. I handled values of up to £20,000 a week, balanced tills and accessed the store safe.I was also tasked with recruiting and training new employees and ensuring they operated at the required standard expected by my store and company. Within this, I balanced labour budgets, ensuring that the store did not go over prescribed hours as well as the distribution of overtime. I handled all shift management for the store, to ensure it was manned and run effectively, within the guidance of my store manager.Stock management and distribution is, more so than ever, essential to the success of the store and for bringing in consistent levels of profit. I was responsible for price control, which advertised our sales and discounts, in order to bring in new customers and retain others.I also cost assessed store maintenance, and identified potential outgoing costs from the store budget such as store repairs and staff consumables. In the absence of our store manager, I took full responsibility for the store. This involved direct contact with the Area Manager, which meant taking extra accountability for specific areas such as more detailed outgoing costs of stock, shrink and damaged goods. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I had to adapt my store to conform with Government guidelines around social distancing and staff hygiene. I had to work creatively with worked hours due to a decrease in employee availability and an increase in customer numbers. I was also the store representative for Sainsbury's 'Great Place to Work' initiative, which aims to give colleagues a greater voice within the company. This involved celebrating colleague success through nominating 'winning teams' each month for the opportunity to receive a company bonus. I also coordinated quarterly store safety inspection reports, to ensure colleague confidence in their working environment.
